This article explains how to use the Authorize.net 2.0 App for Windows to securely accept and manage customer payments on your Windows device. The app supports both credit/debit card transactions via a USB-connected card reader and manual card entry.

Prerequisites

  • Install the Authorize.net 2.0 App for Windows on your device.
  • Connect a compatible USB card reader if you plan to accept payments via card reader.
  • Ensure you have merchant account credentials for login.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Installing the Windows App (Coming Oct 27-31, 2025)
    1. Open the Microsoft Store
      • On your Windows device, click the Start Menu and type Microsoft Store, then open it.
    2. Search for the App
      • In the Store’s search bar (top right corner), type Authorize.net 2.0.
      • Press Enter to see the results.
    3. Select the App
      • From the search results, click on Authorize.net 2.0 to open its details page.
    4. Click Install
      • On the app’s page, click the Install button.
      • If prompted, sign in with your Microsoft account.
      • Wait for Installation to complete
    5. Launch the App
      • Click Open in the Store, or find the app in your Start Menu under Authorize.net 2.0.
  2. Accepting a Payment Using a Card Reader
    • Connect the USB card reader to your Windows device.
    • Select Accept Payment.
    • Choose a transaction type: Authorize and Capture (default), Authorize Only, or Capture Only.
    • Enter the payment amount and description.
    • Adjust item quantities as needed.
    • Review the order and select Take Payment.
    • Select a tip amount (optional).
    • Process the payment using the card reader.
    • Choose receipt delivery: email, print, or no receipt.
  3. Accepting a Payment Manually
    • If no card reader is connected, select Accept Payment.
    • Enter the card number, expiration date, and billing ZIP code.
    • Follow the same steps as with the card reader for amount, description, tipping, and receipt delivery.
  4. Managing Transactions
    • Go to the Transactions menu.
    • View past transactions with details such as date, amount, authorization code, and status.
    • Capture authorize-only transactions.
    • Void unsettled transactions before settlement.
    • Refund settled transactions (customer receives funds after settlement).
    • Email or print receipts for past transactions.
  5. Configuring Settings
    • Open Settings.
    • Update your user profile (name, address, contact details).
    • Enable biometric login for added security.
    • Configure default sales tax rates, tipping options, and receipt printer settings.
    • Add or view your card reader.
    • Note: Changes in the app do not update your Merchant Interface account settings.

Troubleshooting/FAQs
