Server Integration Method (SIM)
The Server Integration Method (SIM) provides a secure method for integrating an online payment system into your website. It is designed to handle all steps in the secure transaction process, from transaction submission to the delivery of the transaction response.
Configuring the Hosted Payment Form and Receipt Pages
To add or configure information on the hosted payment form, receipt page, or email receipt, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Merchant Interface.
- Be on or switched into the New Merchant Interface (2.0)
- Click Payment on the left navigation
- Click Payment Settings
Payment Form and Receipt Page Colors and Fonts Customization
Setting Default Values:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Color and Font Settings.
- Set and change the values for font, size color for the text, link and back ground under Default Colors and Fonts.
- For colors use the drop down to select preset colors or Hex option to define by a hex color value.
- Click Preview at the bottom right to test.
- Click Save to complete the update.
- These settings will be used for any defaults.
Setting Payment Form Heading:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Color and Font Settings.
- Navigate to the Payment Form Heading
- To use the default settings set the Font, Size and Color to default.
- Otherwise you can set custom values separate from your defaults.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
Setting Receipt Page Heading:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Color and Font Settings.
- Navigate to the Receipt Page Heading
- To use the default settings set the Font, Size and Color to default.
- Otherwise you can set custom values separate from your defaults.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
Payment Form - Header Text
Specify the header text that should appear at the top of the payment form:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Header.
- Enter the header text in the text box. The text of the header may only be 255 characters or less in length, due to the size restrictions of the form.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
Payment Form - Footer Text
Specify the footer text that should appear at the top of the payment form:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Footer.
- Enter the footer text in the text box. The text of the footer may only be 255 characters or less in length, due to the size restrictions of the form.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
Payment Form – Form Fields
Specify the fields that may be viewed and edited by a customer, and required to complete a transaction:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Form Fields.
- Click each check box under either the "View." "Edit" or "Required" to allow that information field to be shown and/or to be required for a transaction.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
The following list summarizes the functions of each check box:
- View – The information in these fields will be displayed on the payment form. These fields will not be edited by a user. The information in fields specified with a check in the View column will only be displayed to users on the payment form.
- Edit – These fields are displayed to allow users to enter or edit information. These fields appear as text boxes in which users may enter information.
- Required – These fields will require a value be entered before a transaction may be submitted.
- Choosing a field as "Required" automatically makes that field viewable and able to edit. Choosing a field as "View" or "Edit" will allow that field to be shown during the transaction but will NOT make it a required field unless you choose the Required box.
Payment Form – Security Code (Captcha)
To enable or disable the Security Code option on the Authorize.net hosted payment form, follow these steps:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Form Fields.
- Navigate to Security Code section at the bottom of the page.
- Check or uncheck the box for "Require the Security Code feature on the Payment Form" to enable or disable it.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
When using Simple Checkout, customers must always verify a Security Code. Even if the code is hidden on the payment form, it will still be required on the order page.
Payment Form – Shipping and Return Policies
To set a shipping and return policy link. follow these steps:
- Click the label or arrow next to Payment Form.
- Click the label or arrow next to Form Fields.
- Navigate to Shipping and Return Policies section at the bottom of the page.
- Enter/provide your shipping and return policy url/page.
- Use the preview option to check and test any changes before clicking Save to update your settings.
Receipt Form – Receipt Method
The receipt form may be used to display information to the customer upon successful processing of a transaction. You may include a link to your website on this page, and display information with custom headers and footers.
Choose the method in which the application should display the transaction receipt:
- Click the label or arrow next to Receipt Page.
- Click the label or arrow next to Form Fields.
- Click the label or arrow next to Receipt Method.
- Enter/provide the default receipt page url/page, users will be directed to this page based on the method selected below. Parameterized URLs are not permitted.
- Select either Link, Get, or Post. These options are displayed as radio buttons indicating that only one method may be selected.
- LINK creates a regular hyperlink.
- GET creates a button and returns transaction information in the receipt link URL.
- POST creates a button and returns transaction information as HTML Form POST data.
- Enter/provide the text for the link to display. The text entered will be displayed as a clickable hyperlink to the customer on the receipt page.
- Click Submit.

- Can I set a default payment type on the hosted form?
- You can set the default method of Credit Card or eCheck (ACH) via the API call used by SIM using the x_method field.
