Answer
Transactions eligible for settlement are automatically settled once every 24 hours. If the transaction you wish to void has already been settled, you cannot void the transaction. Instead, you must issue a refund transaction to send funds back to the customer's card or bank account. For instructions about issuing a refund transaction, please see the articles "How do I refund a credit card transaction?" and "How do I refund an eCheck.Net® transaction?" in the Related Items below this article.
If the transaction you wish to void has been approved and is pending settlement, the transaction can be voided.
To void a single transaction:
- Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net/.
- Click Search from the main toolbar.
- Click Unsettled Transactions from the left side menu.
- Select the transaction by clicking the Transaction ID.
- Click Void. A message window appears asking if you would like to continue with the void.
- Click OK to continue, or Cancel to stop the void process.
To void multiple transactions at once:
- Log into the Merchant Interface at https://account.authorize.net/.
- Click Search from the main toolbar.
- Click Unsettled Transactions from the left side menu.
- Click the Filter By dropdown box and choose Group Void.
- Click View.
- The page is refreshed and contains all unsettled records that are eligible to be voided.
- Check the box to the left of the transaction ID you wish to void. You may select a single transaction or multiple transactions on a single page of results.
- Click Void. A message window appears asking if you would like to continue with the void.
- Click OK to continue, or Cancel to stop the void process.
